One of the most fun is to play along to music by other bands and artists. There are lots of benefits to practising with songs. You’ll enhance your drumming skills, techniques, timekeeping, develop your own style from discovering new drummers.
There are lots of great songs for you to learn and practice along with, and you’ll be more willing to practice, as there is nothing more satisfying than playing the drums to your favourite songs. It’s best to start slow and build up to playing to faster songs once you’ve mastered the basics.
Here are some of the songs that you might play in one of our first lessons together.
Micheal Jackson – Bille Jean (1983) – Drummer – Ndugu Chancler
Coldplay – Yellow (2000) – Drummer – Will Champion
The White Stripes – Seven Nation Army (2003) – Drummer – Meg White
The Roots – Seeds 2.0 (2002) – Drummer – Questlove
AC/DC – You Shook Me All Night Long (1980) – Drummer – Phil Rudd
The Strokes – Last Nite (2001) – Drummer – Fabrizio Moretti
Metallica – Sad But True (1993) – Drummer – Lars Ulrich
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Californication (2000) – Drummer – Chad Smith
Nirvana – Lithium (1992) – Drummer – Dave Grohl
Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers – Moanin‘ (1959) – Drummer – Art Blakey
